UNIT DESCRIPTION
What better way to start off the new school year than with a unit dedicated to the children themselves. Our next unit, “Learning about Me” invites children to learn more about their own uniqueness in many different ways. From feelings to families to facial features…we are all unique and this unit helps the children discover this concept through a wide variety of hands-on, child-directed experiences. For those of you who were with us in August, we will scaffold off some of the experiences included in the unit, “Let’s Be Friends.” This is a great way for children to build upon existing knowledge and new and different ways.
UNIT DESCRIPTION
Our next unit, “Amazing Art” provides the perfect time for you to see the children’s creative juices flowing. During this unit, the children will experience many facets of the fine arts as well as dabble in new techniques, learn about famous artists, and find out more about the tools associated with being an artist. The open-ended experiences in this Teaching Guide will allow children to express their ideas and feelings in their own, unique ways. Be sure to plan experiences into this unit that you believe your children would enjoy. This is also a great time to reinforce the importance of “repurposing” recyclables that would normally be thrown away as art materials.
